Steven R. Smith has been releasing music as a member of bands (Mirza, Thuja) and as a solo artist under his own name and various monikers (Hala Strana, Ulaan Passerine, Ulaan Khol, etc.) for nearly 27 years. Milk Thistle marks the eighth full-length release as Ulaan Khol. Following up from 2019's Collapsing Hymns, we find Smith shifting into his most blown out recordings yet akin to classic releases by White Heaven, Les Rallizes Denudes, and the heavier end of Popol Vuh!

Featuring tracks or extracted takes from the following bands: Violoneuses, La Baracande, Jéricho, Toad, Trio Puech Gourdon Brémaud, Maintes Fois, Au Seuil du Vent, In C, Flux, La Cleda, Faune, l'Autre, as well as Bal Acoustique sessions and probably more!

These new edits enable the listener to rediscover the tantric universe of La Novìa from a different height and motion... flying-carpet-like to say the least!

Lazer-beam ultre-raw, all-hail!-low-fidelity tape recordings of a memorable night in Saint Etienne where both bands shared the bill. The split LP features both band's full set, respectively 25 minutes (Temple Solaire) and 40 minutes (France)!!!

Temple Solaire is a raw-stoner trio starring local Le Club Des Gens Spéciaux's co-founder Bertrand Gaude on voice and electric guitar (aka Tamagawa), Mathieu Tilly from France (playing two sets every night on that tour!!!) and non-other than Saint-Etienne legendary bass player Bariz, freshly arriving in the roster after Nicolas Tilly's departure.
France play a rare 2006-era 5-beat-measure that night (reminiscent of the first LP's pattern) in a smoke-saturated and dephased-strobe-soaked live-house...

Desastre and Worstward Recordings present the first vinyl issue of Hala Strana 's second full-length album! Fielding is the sprawling, epic leap forward from Hala Strana’s self-titled debut full-length—a psychedelic collage of traditional music, field recordings, and sonic landscapes. Started in 2002, Hala Strana was the summation of Steven R. Smith's interest in the traditional folk music of central and eastern Europe. By incorporating the melodies, scales, and instrumentation of the village music from areas such as Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and Albania, Steven pushed his music into yet another new territory.
This marks the first vinyl issue of Fielding, re-mastered and presented as a 2-LP set housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve including all the original liner notes and images from the original 2xCD edition.

Very happy to finally put out this record on vinyl for the 5th anniversary of Desastre! Meltdown Of Planet Earth was the first release of the label in 2015 and became an instant classic with the iconic Monkeys artwork. Again, a co-production with Standard In-Fi and Jeremie Sauvage who supported the label since the beginning, cheers man! No need to introduce the record, it's a killer. A second pressing with alternative print and folder cover will be out this fall.

May 2018. DESASTRE and collective URSS,CF joined their forces to organise a special event inside an amazing old occupied factory in the suburbs of Paris called Le Satellite, with two live performances and a giant screening on three walls.
Caught direct on an old MC 310 Telefunken cassette recorder, these two pieces of music by Yann Gourdon (France, La Novià) and Ratcharmer (also bass player of Frankreich), despite their own dynamics singularity, are moving in the same direction of high sound density and the powerful whirlwind became more and more intense with the massive natural echo of the venue add to the analog tape compression.
Le Satellite closed since, but we would like to think that theses recordings, released two years exactly after the event, could be a nice tribute in a way.

Recorded, mixed and Mastering by Vincent Mare in May 2018 at Le Satelitte.

In June 2016, the great-outdoors music festival Echos asked Ernest Bergez aka Sourdure to produce a series of "mantras" set to be diffused in between each concert of the twenty-four hours event taking place in the french Alpes. These pieces were played on the festival's gigantic speakers/ horns system in the afternoon, evening, night, morning, noon... and reverberated fully in the rocky valley. This triple vinyl edition gathers the field-recording-like captures of the tracks delivered once again through the system later that year by Ernest Bergez with the help of Frédéric Bernier, Joachim Brissaud and Julien Dessailly.
All instruments by Ernest Bergez except the Gaida, the Uillean Pipe and the Low Whistle by Julien Dessailly. This edition contains three complementary pieces composed from the original recordings (June 2016 and November 2016) and recorded in Royat in May 2017.
A highly esoteric and cosmic soundscape journey, to be played at maximum volume!

In 2015 Tanz Mein Herz welcome a new arrival among its ever-evolving roster of musicians, the self-taught hurdy-gurdy wizard Alexis Degrenier (from La Tène among other bands).
With a tour already in the works, the musicians settle on a set consisting of old material (Magical Stones and Shiny Mud) as well as new themes such as Spiegel Haus, both built around the new instrumentation.
The selection presented on Dosses is taken from the very first rehearsals around these themes, as the musicians strive and wander about freely in search of new musical vistas and promising friendship.
With Ernest Bergez, Pierre Bujeau, Alexis Degrenier, Pierre-Vincent Fortunier, Guilhem Lacroux, Jeremie Sauvage and Mathieu Tilly.

Recorded by the band on Zoom H2 in Cinquin in 2015. Edited, mixed and mastered in 2019 by Ernest Bergez in Thiers.

In 2014 Tanz Mein Herz - formed in 2005 - at last decide to produce their first record, Territory (Standard In-Fi, 2015) In order to carry out the recordings on Revox tape, the band hand the job to Ernest Bergez (aka Sourdure) who will end-up playing percussions and tambourine before being finally invited to join the Tanz Mein Herz familly for good. The dubbing of these tapes, produced by Guilhem Lacroux and Ernest Bergez, were layed out onto tape using three Revox tape decks, a series of analogue filters, effects and mixers all united for the occasion. These mix sessions gave birth to the recordings presented on Territory as well as a series of more adventurous mixes done on alternative takes of the themes and now presented to you on the record Une Autre Version De Territory (Another Version Of Territory).
